Summer on Martha’s Vineyard has its own dress code — and it’s easier than you think. Days move between ferry decks, bike paths, beach mornings and porch evenings, so the trick is pieces that go everywhere without trying too hard.
Start with a premium tee you actually love. A mid-weight cotton tee with real artwork — like the Vineyard Sunrise or Harbor Black — works over swimwear at the beach, under a light overshirt at dinner, and on its own for cafe mornings in Oak Bluffs.
Add relaxed shorts or linen trousers, sandals you can walk in, and one warm layer for the ferry ride home. The evenings get breezy on the water, even in July.
Locals’ rule of thumb: if it works on a boat, at a beach, and at dinner, it belongs in the bag. Everything else stays home.
